"Klein Paris" on "Piano Layers Vol.2"

I´m glad to be part of "Piano Layers Vol.2" - a wonderful Piano instrumental collection, put together by 7K Music.
21 great artists are involved in this beautiful project and I wrote a piece called 'Klein Paris", exclusively for this occasion.
This composition is a dedication to my city of Leipzig, which Goethe loved define "Klein Paris" ("Little Paris").
Often when I stroll through the alleys or parks in search of inspiration, I find particular beauty in the small nooks and crannies of the city.
A place that I call home, that surprises me time and time again.
I hope you'll like it. 🖤

New EP "The Soul of Things (Solitaer Edit)" out now

Today I want to share my new EP "The Soul of Things (Solitaer Edit)" with you.
"Indigo Feder" is the last of the four pieces in my album "The Soul of Things", which I recorded and rediscovered on a wonderful instrument in this special room.
The piece, "Indigo Feder", is inspired by the feeling of writing down one's thoughts in real time - focused, thoughts flowing smoothly, peaceful. It is precisely this feeling that gave birth to the four special versions on this collection - live, acoustic and very pure.
Have fun listening and thank you for being part of the journey!

New Single 'Ebenholz - Solitaer Edit' out now

When I started writing music for the album, 'The Soul of Things’, during lockdown last year, my first thought was - the most important thing for me is undoubtedly, the piano, which is where most of my music comes to life. Music is born in my studio at home on my old, constantly out of tune but beloved piano. Then, the music journeys to different places, played on different upright and grand pianos.
Every piano has a unique character, upright or grand,- some are over a hundred years old, some play softer, some harder, some have darker or lighter timbres.
’Ebenholz’ is dedicated to the budding of love I have for the piano.
I started playing the piano at the age of 6 and every moment with this instrument was and still is precious to me.
I would like to share one of those moments with you.

‘Ebenholz’ - listen/watch

//

New Single 'Apparat/Solitaer' out now

'Solitaer' and 'Apparat' are part of my album 'The Soul of Things'.

Two compositions that, in the form originally orchestrated for the album, couldn't be more different from each other.
In this particular version, both compositions merge as if they belonged together - like two objects that are standing near each other.
Each room, each instrument shines a different light on the music. Changing shades in the sound in sometimes very small details and bringing out ideas that wouldn´t have brought into existence in other places.

//

'Solitaer' und 'Apparat' sind Teil meines Albums 'The Soul of Things'.

'Kleines Silber' is part of BBC Sounds 'Classical Focus'

'Kleines Silber' is part of BBC Sounds 'Classical Focus', hosted by the amazing James Heather. It's a wonderful mix of music by Max Richter, Anne Müller, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Hildur Gudnadottir and many many more.
.
What James Heather says:
For this mix I wanted to showcase some of my favourite pieces within and connected to this varied genre. The first part of the mix are songs from bygone eras, the opening track dating way back to the 800’s AD and it moves towards the present day as it goes. I wanted to showcase classical in its most diverse representation too by shining a light on those who traditionally didn’t get the limelight they deserved, but thankfully now that is starting to change for the better. I hope you enjoy this selection!
.
.
Thank you for including my music, James! 🖤

New Single 'Kaschmir (Solitaer Edit)'

Some weeks ago I had the chance to play and revisit some of the pieces from my album 'The Soul of Things'.
I did so in a room which embodies a warm and homely feeling - exactly what I had in mind when I wrote these compositions.
As a pianist I´m so grateful, when I find the right instrument in the right room - when everything comes together for the music to fill the air.
Today, I´m proud to share 'Kaschmir' (Solitaer Edit) with you.
Pure and recorded live.
Enjoy!

Colors (Piano Rework)

I wrote a piano version of Felix Räuber's wonderful composition 'Colors'.
Felix Räuber and me have been friends for a very long time and during the years we both contributed to each others music a lot.
It feels so good to be reunited for this special project and I hope you like the different shades of my interpretation of Felix' ‘Colors’.
